Terms of Service

Draft version 0.2

1. Who we are

RingStack is a website for playing browser games, run by Joshua Bemenderfer (“we”). Questions go to josh@thederf.com.

2. Accounts and age

Some features need an account: scores, achievements, saves, chat, friends, comments and purchases. Give accurate information, keep your password private, and tell us if someone else uses your account. One person, one account.

You must be at least 13 to have an account. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up, and you can’t change it yourself afterwards (an admin can correct a mistake). Players under 18 have their own chat and friends audience: they only see, add and invite other players under 18, and they can only use emoji in chat.

Games on other websites only get what you approve on the sign-in screen. They never get your email address, password or date of birth.

3. Chat, friends and behaviour

No harassment, hate, spam, links to other sites, cheating that hurts other players, impersonation or illegal content in chat, comments, names or profiles. Chat masks common swear words automatically. Moderators can delete messages, mute you for a while, ban you from chat, reset scores, and suspend or close accounts that break these rules. You can report messages, comments, players and games, and you can block players so you no longer see each other.

Friends see whether you’re online and which game you’re playing, unless you turn that off or choose to appear offline.

4. Games and publishers

Games are made by independent publishers, including us. Publishers are responsible for their games. We review games before listing them, we don’t guarantee any game, and we can remove games at any time.

Publishers agree to: publish only games they have the rights to; keep their games free of malware and of anything that tries to get players’ passwords or payment details; not collect personal data beyond what players approve; pay the one-time publishing fee for each game; and accept the revenue share shown in their dashboard. Paid items must be cosmetic: they may only change how things look. We take items that sell an advantage off sale.

5. Rings, items and supporter tags

Rings are a virtual currency for buying items in games and chat cosmetics. They have no cash value, can’t be moved between accounts or swapped for money, and aren’t a deposit or stored-value account. Purchases of Rings are final except where the law requires a refund. Game items belong to the game that sells them, so if a game is removed its items may stop working. Chat cosmetics are sold by RingStack and work in every game’s chat.

Players who have bought Rings get a supporter tag based on how many Rings they’ve bought in total. You can hide it in your privacy settings.

While RingStack is in preview, every checkout is simulated (sandbox or Stripe test mode). No real payments are taken.

6. Promotions and ads

Some games are promoted for a fee and are marked “Promoted”. Pages may show ads, including our own promotions. Rewarded ads in games are always optional.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. You give us a licence to show it on RingStack so the service works, and we can remove it.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses, lost data or lost progress in games.

9. Changes and leaving

We may change these terms. We’ll post the new version here and, for big changes, tell signed-in players. You can delete your account at any time from Account, Privacy.
